Day 1 Arrival in Sofia. Transfer to the hotel. Night in Sofia. Day 2 Sofia city tour, visit to Boyana Church, one of the 7 UNESCO Heritage sites in Bulgaria. Free afternoon and night in Sofia. Day 3 Drive to Belogradchik, small town famous for its fascinating rock formations. We will cross the gorge of Iskar River, other picturesque phenomena. Night in Belogradchik. Day 4 Departure to Pleven. Visit to the Panorama of Pleven and wine tasting in the oldest Bulgarian cellar. Night in Pleven. Day 5 Drive to Veliko Tarnovo. En route, visit to Etara Ethnographic Museum near Gabrovo. Visit to Tzarevetz Fortress. Night in Veliko Tarnovo. Day 6 We continue our trip to Russe, a beautiful town in the banks of Danube River. En route, visit to Ivanovo Rock Monasteries, other UNESCO sight. Night in Russe. Day 7 Departure to Varna. Visit to Madara Horseman. Night in Varna, beautiful city on the Black Sea coast. Day 8 Stay and night in Varna to enjoy its large sandy beaches. Optional excursion to Balchik Summer Palace and Kaliakra Cape. Day 9 Departure to Burgas. En route, visit to Nessebar, a small peninsula town, UNESCO Heritage site. Night in Bourgas. Day 10 Drive to the Rose Valley. Visit to the Thracian Tomb and Rose Museum. Night in Kazanlak. Day 11 Departure to Plovdiv and city tour. Excursion to Bachkovo Monastery. Night in Plovdiv. Day 12 Drive to Bansko, a small old town with relaxing night atmosphere. Night in Bansko. Day 13 Departure to Sandasnki, a charming spa resort. Excursion to Melnik, the smallest town in the country and famous for its red wines. Wine-tasting. Night in Sandanski. Day 14 Drive back to Sofia. Departure to Shoumen. En route, visit to Madara Horseman, a huge rock bass-relief, an important UNESCO sight and Tombul Mosque, the largest one in Bulgaria. Night in Shumen. Day 8 Drive to Veliko Tarnovo after breakfast. En route, visit to Arbanassi, a small village famous for its precious medieval frescoes. Tarnovo city-tour including Tzarevetz Fortress. Night in Veliko Tarnovo. Day 9 Drive back to Sofia. En route, visit to Etara, an open-air museum of the Bulgarian crafts.
